20/20 Vision

Here we are at the beginning of not just a new year but a new decade.  2020, I find it hard to believe but it’s here and there’s no denying it.  What does this year mean for you.

Do you have a new vision for 2020?  The number itself, for me brings to mind clear vision.  I was in the Optometry field for several years so 20/20 has always signified good eyesight (which I DON’T have!).

A New Vision, A New Beginning

A New Beginning

To say that I am excited about this year is a gross understatement.  For the first time in my life I can honestly say I’m content where I am in almost all areas of my life.

The last few years haven’t been easy.  In fact, at one point I was ready to give up on writing completely!  I’ve dealt with physical setbacks, emotional setbacks and spiritual setbacks.  I have literally been hit from every side!  I mean, if I can’t keep it all together and stay healthy, how can I teach others how to?  Right?

Fortunately, I had someone remind me that my readers don’t want me to be perfect….just real.

Looking Ahead

And so here we are today looking ahead at the beginning of a new year.  Have you asked yourself what it may hold for you?  Thought about where you may want to be at the end of it?  Maybe set some goals?  Do you have a clear vision for what you want from this coming year?

Setting goals is one of THE most important things you can do if you really want to make a difference in your life. Goals are like a road map. If you don’t have them, you have no idea where you are going or how to get there.

For many, many years I didn’t set goals.  I just aimlessly wandered through life hoping I’d accomplish SOMETHING!  Are you surprised that I didn’t?  Oh, I worked hard, took care of my family and squeaked by pinching pennies every step of the way.  But, I never really made much progress.

It’s Not Always Easy

A few years ago, I set some goals.  Really good goals.  Even wrote a post about how to set goals.  You can check it out here. It’s got great tips for setting SMART goals. But then a little thing called life happened and the bottom fell out of my world.

I couldn’t find the time to even sit down to the computer much less write anything.  And that’s when I almost gave up.  There was only one thing that kept me going.  YOU!  I knew what I have to offer is something that is needed.

Too many folks today have lost their peace and joy!  They have lost their health as well.  The negativity we are bombarded with every day is eating away at our bodies and souls!   So here I am.  Still plugging along, determined to make a difference and help those I can.

You may ask what the moral of this story is.  Well, here it is in a nutshell.

DON’T GIVE UP!

It’s not about perfection but progress.  When I was told that I didn’t have to look like a bikini model and always have a smile on my face it freed me to be me.  That’s it.

Have the last few years been tough?  Heck yeah! But I didn’t allow them to defeat me.  Just like the muscles in our bodies, sometimes we have to be torn down in order to get stronger.

There are lessons I would have never learned had I not gone through the hardships of these last couple of years.  Did I enjoy the process?  NO!

But looking back, I appreciate what I’ve gleaned from the time and like I said before, I have more joy, more peace and more contentment than I’ve ever had before.

Where there is no vision the people perish
Proverbs 29:18

So, let’s go into this next year with a vision.  Let’s set some goals and make a difference in this wonderful world we live in.

How about you?   What’s your goals?  Your dreams?  Your desires?  I would LOVE to hear!  So please leave a comment or email me with what you want this year to hold for you.

I look forward to hearing from each and every one of you.  Until next time….

Blessings,

Becky
