Spread the love

Good Morning! Today is Thanksgiving here in the United States. And it made me think, Am I thankful? Do I act like I’m thankful? Do others know I’m thankful?

So many times we complain and grumble over such little stuff…at least I know I do. But when I can keep in mind all that I have to be thankful for, it keeps me from complaining.

The Good And The Bad

This year has been unprecedented in my life. I have so very much to be thankful for but again I had to ask, do I act like I’m thankful. Just the fact that I’m still alive gives me reason enough to shout it from the rooftops! I was diagnosed with cancer late last year and have gone through 2 rounds of chemotherapy and 20 radiation treatments. I didn’t suffer the severe side effects of any of my treatments that some do nor am I having side effects from the medicine I will have to take for the next 5-10 years to keep my cancer from coming back! I thank God for all of it!

We’ve also moved from our 5 acres to just under an acre and are now closer to 2 of our children, we are within 5 minutes of the lake, in a house that is perfect for us. For the first time ever, I’ll have a designated place to write and paint and my husband will have his workshop! God has blessed us beyond measure!

But, again I had to ask myself, am I thankful and do others know it? Even with all these blessings, I can sometimes find myself still complaining about small stuff that doesn’t really matter. Why? It frustrates me when I realize what I’m doing and makes me feel guilty. But then I realize that God understands. He knows I’m just human and he gets it. That doesn’t excuse my behavior but it does give me the opportunity to repent and be forgiven.

Forgiveness. Salvation. Eternal life. When I think about these things I can’t help but be thankful! All the other stuff is great and I am thankful and know just how blessed we’ve been but when I think about the fact that I’m forgiven and will spend eternity in heaven with my Lord??? That’s when I can truly say I’m thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving

So to all of my American family….HAPPY THANKSGIVING! But truly we can all celebrate Thanksgiving every day! What are you thankful for today? Tell someone and be blessed! When you keep your mind on all you’ve been blessed with it helps you to let go of the petty stuff that can bring you down. Focus on what you have to be thankful for and others will see it, too.

Blessings to you and your family
